Sometimes it feels like life is out of control and there is no balance or order to things – yes, we all feel like this at some point. Everything just feels entirely messed up and nothing seems to make sense. Sounds familiar to you?
The truth is, balance is a very important thing but modern life can get in the way of maintaining that balance.
In this blog post I will discuss five points that will help you regain control back of your life so that you can live more happily and healthily.
1) Be more active and stay fit.
It has been expressed by health experts that 40 minutes of aerobic exercise at least 3 times a week is important. If you think about it, this is an easy goal. No matter how busy your schedule is, surely you can fit in some physical activity as simple as walking or running. It’s important to enjoy yourself too, so you don’t have to necessarily stick to just running – sports science reveals a variety of more fun activities such as weight training, martial arts and even dancing. The main thing here is that all these activities improve our fitness and promote general well-being. So, don’t dismiss your fitness. Get up and move. There is something for everyone to do that will keep them fit – it’s just a matter of experimenting and seeing which physical activity is best for you.
2) Balance out your work and life.
It’s important to have a life that is separate from your work. It is usually work problems that build up the stress in your life. Consider these questions: do you enjoy your work?; are you proud of your job?; do you participate in your actual life?; do you feel happy about the work that you do? Ponder upon these questions and think. If your work is not something that you enjoy and look forward to, then it may interrupt your life outside of your work and eventually will lead you to mental health problems such as stress and anxiety. However, don’t panic. Remember that when everything seems impossible, there is always some kind of solution available. If you feel that your job really is a disaster then you should consider leaving and go search for one that you actually enjoy.
Always put your happiness and mental health first. Think creatively and never settle for less. Keep searching until you have found work that you wouldn’t mind doing at home or if you wouldn’t mind doing for free. It’s all about passion here. Find your passion. Plus, life is too short to settle for anything that does not bring peace and happiness in to your life. Never forget that!
3) Have healthy relationships.
Whether it’s with your significant other, family, cousins or friends – it is vital to have healthy and strong relationships. Life is full of all sorts of relationships, and every human being needs them in order to beat feelings of loneliness or low moods. Relationships actually help us grow and feel better about ourselves and just life in general.
Whatever relationship you’re a part of, always keep track of how you’re feeling. You must make sure that you’re not feeling overwhelmed, tired or depressed. Most importantly, you need to invest time to do things for yourself outside of those relationships. In other words, put yourself first sometimes; retain your sense of self. Know your self worth.
The thing with relationships is that they can set off all different kinds of moods and emotions, but what’s important is the flow of energy; from your end and the other end, energy must be equal if you want to consider it to be a healthy relationship. If, for some reason or circumstance you feel that your relationships are not healthy, then now is the time to reflect and get rid of toxicity or make improvements.
4) Put more life in to your years.
Let’s face it, life is too short to be miserable and to accept that you’re going to one day, so you just stick to the same old routine. Factually, yes, we are all going to die, but that should not stop you from living life as fully as possible.
The truth is most people are failing to acknowledge two secret weapons for life: optimism and self-help. Optimism is all about looking at people you know or come across in the media (such as celebrities and influencers), who are making great progress by continuously living a life full of joy and happiness. The tip here is to believe that you can be like them. Start taking action and make the most out of your life. Create some fun and unforgettable memories; basically anything that will add more quality of life in to your life and make it worthwhile.
On the other hand, self-help is all about discovering who you are as an individual and learning all the triggers that stop you moving forward in life. In this case it is highly recommended to research (e.g. read books and articles) about your own issues and see how it has been dealt with professionally, and then implement those examples to your own life. Remember, it’s always your responsibility to become a better you, ultimately for a better life – it’s all in your hands to give yourself the life that you deserve!
5) Use social media effectively.
With so many useless and unnecessary distractions online, it’s so easy to forget that digital services and social media exist to make life easy flowing, not complicated and more stressful. Understand that the digital world should serve you, not the other way round. So if you feel like you are spending countless hours on social media running different accounts and such, then it’s time to bring everything back under control. Or, if you feel like 1 hour of your favourite online game turns in to 10 hours, then you need to learn how to turn that off also.
The tip here is to stick to 1 device and use less accounts/networking/gaming as much as possible. Give yourself a limit and do not exceed it. Take control of the amount of time you invest on social media because without even realizing before it happens, it can seriously drain you out to the point where you have ended up in depression.
Unless, of course, you are using it for a good purpose and it actually helps you in life. But it’s still always important to remember one principle when it comes to social media no matter what: disconnect from the digital world, take breaks, and reconnect to yourself!
Conclusion…
After writing these 5 points, I believe that the key ingredient to living a happier and healthier life is to just stay simple. Don’t complicate life. Smile, and be happy about the little things. Stay away from toxicity and stay committed to your inner peace. What do you think? Agree or disagree? Feel free to leave a comment below…
